It’s counter-intuitive, but going after a smaller, tighter, niche market has a lot of advantages. I highly recommend it. When my mentor first challenged me to find a niche, I was completely against it. I thought, “I’m having a hard enough time getting business and you want me to reduce the number of people I target. That’s nuts!”

Granted, going after a niche reduces the total pool of customer you reach out to, but it allows you to create online messages and conversations that address that niche directly. We all compete for our potential customer’s attention. Studies show that the average person sees 300 to 700 ads a day. Our challenge is to standout above the noise.
